Western & Central Mass. Residents Honored for 2004 Federal Service
HOLYOKE, Mass., Sept. 23, 2004 – The Second Annual
Excellence in Government Awards were announced today by the Federal Executive
Association of Western Massachusetts (FEAWM). These awards, which honor the
“best and the brightest” in local federal service, were presented at a luncheon
at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. Awards have been presented to outstanding federal
employees in 13 categories.
FEAWM board members David Tuttle, State Director of USDA Rural
Development in Amherst, and Jeffrey Anliker, Assistant State Conservationist for
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Amherst, announced the following
winners:
- Distinguished Federal Executive: Joanne Carney of
South Deerfield, Associate Medical Center Director, Department of Veteran
Affairs Medical Center
- Distinguished Federal Manager: Senior Master
Sergeant Michael Barrick of Granby, Squadron Flight Chief, 439th Aircraft
Maintenance Squadron, Westover Air Reserve Base.
- Distinguished Federal Supervisor: Rita Thibodeau
of Colrain, District Conservationist, USDA Natural Resources Conservation
Service
- Administrative Assistant of the Year: Ida Hackett
of Springfield, Administrative Assistant, Westover Air Reserve Base
- Support Person of the Year: Annette Carlson of

- Outstanding Service/Trade Employee of the Year:

- Professional Employee of the Year: Katherine

- Technical/Scientific Employee of the Year: Steven

- Outstanding Federal Volunteer: Ruth Wheeler of
Florence, Volunteer Program Administrative Assistant, Department of Veteran
Affairs Medical Center
- Outstanding Individual Customer Service Effort:
Elizabeth Curry of Chicopee, Test Coordinator, Springfield Military Entrance
Processing Station, Westover Air Reserve Base
- Award for Creativity and Innovation: Mary Rodowicz
of Chicopee, Education Program Manager, Department of Veteran Affairs
- Outstanding Community Service: Myles Senflug of
Springfield, Operations Support Specialist, U.S. Postal Service
- Outstanding Diversity Contribution: Katrena Ford
of Springfield, EEO Manager, Minority Veterans Program Coordinator,
Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center
Special honor awards were also presented to Jeffrey Anliker of
Belchertown, Assistant State Conservationist, USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service and David Tuttle of Barre, State Director, USDA Rural
Development. A special award honoring the late Angela Boissonnault of Wilbraham
was presented to her husband Don, commemorating her many years of federal
service to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Westover Air
Reserve Base.
The FEAWM is an association of more than 20 federal agencies
that serve the people of western Massachusetts. The FEAWM includes leaders from
the departments of Agriculture, Defense, Interior, Justice, Labor, Treasury and
Veterans Affairs, as well as the District Court, Federal Deposit Insurance
Corp., General Services Administration, Small Business Administration and the
Social Security Administration.
